Trust & safety

Nobody ships first.
Nobody gets scammed.
That's SwapLock.

Every trade on Swaption is protected by SwapLock — a hold-and-verify system that means neither Swapper has to trust the other blindly. Ship swaps get simultaneous label creation and delivery tracking. Local swaps get a QR handoff at a verified SwapZone.

How a shipped swap works

  1. Step 1

    Match & agree

You find an item you want. The other Swapper accepts your offer. Both items are locked.

  2. Step 2

    Ship together

Both parties buy a prepaid label in the same window. You each drop off within 72 hours.

  3. Step 3

    Tracked in transit

Live tracking updates both sides. Neither package is 'released' until both are moving.

  4. Step 4

    Confirmed & done

Delivery scans mark the swap complete. If a Swapper doesn't ship, we return your item or issue store credit.

How a local swap works

  1. Step 1

    Pick a SwapZone

Both sides agree on a verified public meet-up spot (often a police-station lot) and a time.

  2. Step 2

    Show up

The QR code and 6-character verification code stay locked until you're physically at the zone.

  3. Step 3

    Scan & verify

Inspect the item. Scan the other Swapper's code. Both sides must confirm on the spot.

  4. Step 4

    Walk away safely

Trade marked complete. Leave a review. That's it — no shipping, no waiting.

Why Swappers trust SwapLock

Nobody ships first.

Traditional peer-to-peer trading falls apart because someone has to send their item into the void. SwapLock coordinates both shipments in the same window — if one Swapper flakes, the other's item never leaves the mailbox.

The 72-hour guarantee.

If your swap partner doesn't ship within 72 hours of the label window, we return your item to you or issue store credit. Not a 'we'll look into it' — an automatic guarantee.

Verified handoffs, in person.

Local swaps use a proximity-gated QR code that only unlocks when both Swappers are physically at a verified SwapZone. No handoffs in random parking lots.

Real Swappers, real reviews.

Every Swapper builds a public trade history. Verified badges show identity checks and successful trades. Bad actors get blocked — not warned.

How the money is handled

For any cash portion of a trade, payments are processed and held by Stripe Payments Company, a licensed money transmitter, on behalf of the seller. Swaption never holds user funds. Funds are transferred to the seller 24 hours after delivery is confirmed (both shipments delivered, or the SwapZone meet-up is marked complete via QR / verification code) — absent an open dispute. If a dispute is opened during that window, the scheduled release is paused until it's resolved.

SwapLock is not escrow.

Swaption is not a bank or a money transmitter and does not hold your money. For cash portions, Stripe handles the payment under its own MTL. For swaps, SwapLock coordinates the items — through shipping windows and on-site verification — not funds.

Ready to trade — without the anxiety?

Swap without spending a dollar — or buy it outright if you'd rather. Either way, SwapLock has your back.
