Tampa startup lets you swap for an iPhone — without spending a dollar.
Swaption is a peer-to-peer marketplace where Swappers trade what they own for what they want. Cash is optional, not required. Every trade is protected by SwapLock — a hold-and-verify system that means nobody has to ship first.
The story
The problem. Every household has hundreds of dollars of unused stuff — the guitar in the closet, the espresso machine on the top shelf, the jacket that hasn't fit in three years. Meanwhile, everyone has a wishlist. Cash marketplaces make you sell, wait, and buy — three transactions where fees, scams, and dropoffs happen. Most people give up after listing one item.
The solution. Swaption is swap-first. Match what you have to what someone else wants and trade in one step, no cash required. If you'd rather sell or buy outright, that path still works — but the flagship experience is a direct trade, protected by SwapLock so neither side ships first without a hold in place.
The traction. Swaption started in Tampa and is expanding to verified SwapZones — public, well-lit meet-up spots (often police-station parking lots) where local swaps happen with an on-site QR handoff. For long-distance trades, SwapLock coordinates simultaneous shipping so no Swapper is left holding the bag.
