Delete your Swaption account

Swaption is the clothing swap and resale marketplace operated by Swaption, LLC — on the web at swaption.us and in the Swaption mobile app. This page explains how to permanently delete your Swaption account and the data connected to it. Deletion is permanent: your account is erased, not suspended, deactivated, or hidden.

Option 1 — Delete it yourself (fastest)

1. Sign in to Swaption on the web or in the mobile app.
2. Open Settings (your profile menu) and choose the Delete account section.
3. Select Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, and choose Permanently delete.
4. Your session ends immediately and the account is removed.

Go to Settings → Delete account (you will be asked to sign in first — signing in is only required to prove the account is yours).

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you can no longer sign in, email admin@swaptions.net from the email address on the account with the subject line “Account deletion request — Swaption”. We verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting, and we complete verified requests within 30 days. We never confirm or deny whether any particular email address has a Swaption account to anyone other than the verified account holder.

What is deleted

When your deletion request completes, we erase:

• Your sign-in identity and credentials (email/password, Google and Apple sign-in links, MFA factors, trusted devices, and active sessions).
• Your profile: display name, username, avatar, bio, and location.
• Your listings, uploaded listing photos and other uploaded media, drafts, and saved/liked items.
• Your offers, swap matches, and swap-meet arrangements that are not part of a completed transaction.
• Your messages and conversation membership.
• Shipping and ship-from addresses.
• Emergency contact details and any pending emergency-contact invitations.
• Notification, SMS, and accessibility preferences, and your blocked-user list.
• Identity-verification records held by Swaption (verification documents are processed by Stripe Identity and deleted under Stripe's policy).
• Reviews you wrote and reviews written about you are unlinked from any identifiable account.

What we must retain, and why

A small set of records survives deletion because the law or the safety of other members requires it. These records are kept in a de-identified form wherever possible — they are no longer connected to a usable account, profile, or login.

• Completed orders, swaps, payouts, refunds, and shipping-label purchases — retained for tax, accounting, and financial recordkeeping (generally 7 years), and because the other party to the transaction has their own record and dispute rights.
• Payment and payout records held by Stripe — Stripe is the payment processor and independently retains transaction data under financial regulations, including anti-money laundering and Know Your Customer rules. Deleting your Swaption account does not delete records Stripe is required to keep.
• Open disputes, chargebacks, or claims — retained until resolved plus the applicable limitations period, so the matter can be adjudicated.
• Trust & safety records — reports made about you, moderation decisions, and enforcement records are retained for fraud prevention, to stop banned members from re-registering, and to protect other members.
• Consent and legal-notice logs — records that you accepted the Terms, Privacy Policy, and SMS consent (kind, version, and timestamp) are retained as proof of consent, as required for messaging and privacy compliance.
• Security and audit logs — retained for a limited period for fraud-prevention and security investigation.

We do not sell personal information. Retained records are used only for the purposes listed above and are deleted or further de-identified once the retention purpose expires.

Before you delete

• Complete or cancel any in-progress orders, swaps, and shipping labels — deletion does not cancel a transaction you owe or are owed.
• Withdraw any pending payout balance through your connected Stripe account.
• You can request a copy of your data first — see our Privacy Policy for the export and access request process.
• Deleting the mobile app alone does not delete your account.

Timing

Self-service deletion takes effect immediately. Email-verified requests are completed within 30 days. Backups and disaster-recovery copies are purged on their normal rotation, within 90 days of deletion.
